One reason why I personally hosted my website in the UK was because I had a .org domain that was hosted in America and basically that ment my .org domain website would not show in any UK Searches.
I decided to Host my website in the UK and within just a few days not even a week my site began to show up in UK Google searches at last. Also if your website is more UK Focused then it makes sense to Host in the UK as generally people loading your pages will find they load faster.
